The Texarkana Community College Dictionary defines satire as “Probly one of dem lonely tires abandoned on the shoulder of I-30. Ya know, a ‘sad tire’?”.
The Texarkana Banana is just that, a feeble attempt at humor that you subconsciously notice in passing. Eventually, the city removes it after a few weeks due to it being a danger to the community. And when it’s gone, you kinda feel a loss because you realize that it felt strangely comforting to see it every morning on your way to work. But now it’s gone…
Mostly it’s fake alerts for the town of Texarkana and it’s surrounding subordinate towns. But there will be other goodies in there too. Some of it’s pretty goofy, some poking fun at ourselves a bit, and some of it you find that you don’t really get it. Besides the very real chance that it isn’t that funny, it’s probably because either:
A) You aren’t from here (AND AINT ONE OF US!)
B ) The alert is referencing something from a generation or life experience different from yours.
C) You aren’t in the right head space for light humor right now because you almost had a wreck avoiding that sad tire on I-30
